While COVID-19 cases continue to spout throughout the entire country, causing more public restrictions and economic threats as well as employment crises, we’ve been privileged enough to have such initiatives by our authorities to make way for the vaccine to the country.  Yet, it’s been troubling to many individuals on-premises that assume danger contained in the vaccine.

According to the World Health Organization(WHO), vaccination of the virus started back in December 2020 with a total of 175.3 million vaccine doses being monitored and at least seven different vaccines. As of April 27, 2021, the Philippines has over 1.5 million vaccinated individuals and 237,992 people fully vaccinated people which is 0.2% of the population.

The main goal of getting vaccinated is that it helps strengthen and prepare our immune system to counter and defend against bacteria,  eliminating it before it can survive in our bodies. Getting vaccinated is a vital part of our fight against Covid-19 because it reduces the risk of an individual getting contracted the virus. In addition to that, as a community, when we get vaccinated, it helps to protect each and everyone, and we will finally eliminate the rising number of cases every day and minimize the risk of contracting the virus. In other countries such as the United States, vaccinated individuals do not need to wear masks in outdoor settings with small groups.

Their cases continue to decline as well because of their continuous and ongoing vaccination program where a total of  234,639,414 million doses have been given of its 328.2 million population, according to an NBC News tally. Compared to this number, the Philippines has still a long way to go only having 1,809,801 doses administered as of April 27, 2021, according to the Department of Health (DOH). This is less than one percent of the total population of the Philippines.

Covid-19 has made us realize the joy of simply taking a walk outside in a public area, a mall, etc. without having to put on a mask. Because the COVID-19 virus has been evolving, we most definitely need the vaccines now, for it will protect us from its several variations. If we want to move around freely, go to work, attend physical classes together with our classmates, move around in the park, enjoy time with friends in a bar, or go to the movies freely, the vaccines against COVID-19 will help us get there where we can better protect ourselves from the virus at any costs and once again have a restriction-less community.
