“Ang mahal na ng baboy!” is this what you commonly hear from your mom nowadays? With the recent spread of the African swine fever in the country, the price of meat has been exceedingly high. In times like these, we have to get creative with our dishes. We all know that sisig is one of the most popular Filipino dishes that we usually eat. Mostly, sisig is made up of pig’s head or other parts of the meat. But in this recipe, we’ll add a different twist! Instead of pork's meat, we will use vegetables, tokwa, and chicken to make a unique version that has the same delicious taste as pork sisig!
Ingredients
Tokwa
Chicken Breast
Bell Pepper
Carrots
Baguio Beans
Onions
Salt
Pepper
Mayonnaise
Soy sauce
Butter
Procedure
Pick the right texture of chicken meat (mostly breast), tofu, and vegetables such as carrots, Baguio beans, and bell pepper to ensure that it is fresh and healthy. Wash the said ingredients with running water to make sure that it is clean before boiling it. Steam the chicken breast into a steamer for 5-10 minutes. steam the vegetables into a steamer for the same duration as the chicken. Make sure that it is not overcooked or undercooked. Slice the tokwa into small pieces. After slicing, fry the tofu into a hot pan until it is golden brown. Chop the red and white onions into tiny pieces. Chop the chicken and the vegetables into small pieces. Mix together the ingredients with salt, pepper, soy sauce, and mayonnaise. Prepare a hot pan or sizzling plate and put the butter on it. Put the mixed ingredients into a pan or sizzling plate and mix it all together. Serve hot.
