With the help of newly acquired 8th time LEC Champion and 2019 worlds finalist, Luka ‘Perkz’ Perkovic helps Cloud 9 secure the lCS spring title and a trip to MSI showdown in a 5 game stretch series against team Liquid last April 12, 2021 at Greek theater.
Cloud 9 had an early game dominance as they reached 11 minutes of the game with a team kill of 4 and a 2000 gold lead. Yet it was not enough to take the game 1 of the series as team Liquid marches off. Team liquid contests an elder dragon teamfight that will give them a winning condition. Liquid manages to secure the elder dragon and win game 1.
Despite a rough start of the first game of the series, cloud 9 revenges back. Cloud 9 mid laner, Perkz dominates the game 2 by picking his pocketpick, Orianna. He finishes with a KDA of 9-2-9. Game 2 was in favor of Cloud 9. A sudden-death game 3 approaches the series. Both teams did not let each other end the game without a clash. However, a game changing turn happens as team liquid mid laner Nicolaj Jensen popped off as he set the whole cloud 9 on misery by upsetting cloud 9 to a disappointing loss. Making team liquid take the game 3 and only 1 win away from claiming the LCS spring trophy.
Tables have turned, as team liquid’s momentum did not last long. Cloud 9 bounces back by controlling the game 4 of the series. Team liquid and cloud 9 series are 2-2. Both teams are in match point. With a great map control and jungle pressure of the jungler of cloud 9, cloud 9 still manages to maintain the lead and continue the rally as they ended the series by finishing the last game of the series in under 30 minutes. Cloud 9 did not let team liquid destroy one of their towers and having a gold
lead by almost 15,000.
Cloud 9 hailed as the first Mid Season showdown champion and the 2021 LCS Spring Split
Champions. Hence, they will represent the region of North America at mid seasonal invitational that will take place in Rekyjavik, Iceland with 16 team participants from different regions of the world on May 6.
